Are you an experienced Control, Command and Signalling Engineer with a strong background in Traffic Management or signalling control systems, looking for a role where you can help shape how a new railway will be operated?
This is an opportunity to work on a nationally significant rail programme that is developing a new generation of digital control systems rather than simply installing existing technology. You will be involved at the stage where operational needs are translated into system behaviour, helping to define how trains will be managed, regulated and controlled in real time.
The organisation sits at the centre of the UK's long term rail investment strategy, delivering systems that will influence railway operations for decades. It is recognised for working at the forefront of European rail technology, combining ETCS, automation and integrated Traffic Management into a single modern CCS platform.
In this role you will focus on the Traffic Management and control layer, acting as a technical authority between end users, designers and suppliers. You will support the development of requirements, assess whether proposed solutions will work in real operational conditions, and provide technical assurance through design, verification and testing.
This position would suit a Senior CCS Engineer with experience of signalling control or Traffic Management systems who enjoys early-stage system development, stakeholder engagement and applying engineering judgement to complex, safety critical challenges.
The Role
* Lead CCS engineering activities with a focus on Traffic Management and control systems
* Translate operational and control room needs into technical requirements and system behaviour
* Provide technical assurance of design, verification and testing deliverables
* Manage technical risk and interfaces with wider rail systems and external stakeholders
* Communicate complex CCS concepts clearly to both technical and non technical audiences
The Person
* Experience in Control, Command and Signalling or Traffic Management systems within rail or a similar safety critical environment
* Strong understanding of system development, integration and assurance of control or signalling systems
* Knowledge of safety processes including the Common Safety Method for risk evaluation and assessment
* Chartered Engineer or working towards, or equivalent professional experience
* Confident communicator with the ability to balance technical rigour with operational needs
