Job description
Lead Product Designer (AI startup)
$160,000 - $260,000 + Equity + Benefits
Hybrid (3-4 days on-site), New York City
Looking for a role where you'll take ownership of product design from day one and set the standards an entire platform will scale on? This is an opportunity to join an early-stage team building category-defining software at the intersection of automation, enterprise operations, and modern design systems.
You'll work alongside senior engineers shipping to production multiple times per day, giving you rapid feedback loops and the ability to see your work in the hands of customers quickly. Expect to operate with significant autonomy on decisions that would be highly distributed in larger organisations.
This early-stage, venture-backed platform is building AI-driven workflow tools that support high-velocity commercial teams. Backed by a recent eight-figure investment and already closing enterprise-level deals, the team is small, product-led, and moves quickly, offering early hires meaningful influence on product direction and long-term design standards.
As one of the earliest design hires, you'll collaborate directly with founders who have previously scaled venture-backed products to acquisition and later-stage growth. You'll establish frameworks, research approaches, success criteria, and interaction patterns that will be referenced across future teams. This is hands-on ownership rather than advisory influence.
The culture values thoughtful iteration, sustainable development, and clarity of thinking. You'll be encouraged to go deep, not just ship fast.
The Role
-Own UX architecture across complex, hybrid workflows
-Lead research and testing to validate direction and inform decisions
-Define measurable success criteria across multiple product surfaces
-Influence roadmap prioritisation through customer insight
-Operate autonomously while contributing to a high-velocity engineering team
The Person
-Strong product design experience within enterprise or B2B contexts with reputable brands
-Strong command of modern design tools and methodologies
-Able to create clarity from ambiguous requirements
-Excellent communicator across technical and non-technical groups
-Comfortable shaping standards and systems from first principles
