Scam Alert on WhatsApp and Text Messages

At Rise Technical Recruitment, we're passionate about positively changing the lives of our candidates and our clients.

But unfortunately, not everyone shares these intentions. Some bad actors are out there, aiming to exploit your career aspirations for their own gain.

Today, we want to warn you about a specific scam targeting talented tech professionals like yourself: fake job offers delivered via WhatsApp and text messages.

How the Scam Works:

  • Contact: You receive contact in a way which could be legitimate, such as a text message or WhatsApp message stating that they are a Rise Technical employee, they will ask if you want to receive information on a new job.

  • Training: However they may well ask you to then join a training session via a web link and input your personal details.

  • Phishing for Information: They'll request your personal information, or even financial details for "verification" purposes.

Red Flags to Watch Out For:

  • Pressure Tactics: Avoid anyone urging you to rush through the process or make quick decisions.

  • Direct Requests for Personal Information: Legitimate recruiters rarely ask for sensitive information via text or WhatsApp.

Protect Yourself:

  • Never Share Personal Information: Don't provide your ID, bank details, or social security number to anyone you can’t verify.

  • Verify the Company: Research the company mentioned in the message. Contact them directly through their official website or verified social media channels to confirm the job opening.

  • Report the Scam: Block the number, report the message to your messaging platform, and consider reporting it to authorities like the Federal Trade Commission (FTC) in the USA to help protect others.

  • Trust Established Channels: When it comes to finding your dream job, stick to reputable platforms like Rise Technical Recruitment.

Remember, if something sounds too good to be true, it probably is. Stay vigilant, protect your information, and reach out to trusted resources like Rise Technical Recruitment for your job search.

We will never request payment from you in assisting with your job searching, nor would we ask for your financial information.
