Shift Supervisor - Machine Shop
Permanent Early Shift
Location: Birmingham
£15.22 per hour + Shift Allowance (£126.60 per week) (£33,000 - £36,000)
Are you an experienced machine shop professional looking to step into a leadership role on a permanent early shift?
This company is seeking a capable and hands-on Shift Supervisor to lead and support a busy machine shop environment. This is an excellent opportunity for a technically strong supervisor with a background in machining who enjoys leading teams and solving technical challenges on the shop floor.
On offer is a permanent role with a consistent early shift pattern, additional shift allowance, and long-term stability within a well-established manufacturing environment.
You will be responsible for supervising daily operations within the machine shop, planning machining sequences, supporting operators with technical issues, and ensuring work is completed safely, efficiently, and to drawing specification.
The Role
- Supervise and manage a machine shop department on early shift
* Plan machining centres and machining sequences from technical drawings
* Support operators with technical issues relating to parts, machines, or processes
* Ensure safe working practices and adherence to IOSH standards
* Monitor workflow, quality, and productivity across the department
* Liaise effectively with operators, engineers, and management
The Person
- NVQ Level 3 qualification
* IOSH Certificate
* Minimum of 2 years' experience supervising a department
* Minimum of 3 years' hands-on technical machining experience
* Strong ability to read and interpret detailed engineering drawings
* Experience operating lathes and milling machines
* Previous experience in a manufacturing or engineering environment (other industries considered)
