Operations Director - Mechanical Services (Building Services / M&E)

Stirling

£60,000 - £65,000 + Bonus + Company Car + Pension + + Private Health Insurance + Package

This is a unique opportunity to join a forward-thinking building services contractor as their Operations Director - Mechanical Services. The company has built a strong reputation across commercial, industrial, and residential sectors, and is now looking for a driven, experienced leader to scale operations, improve delivery performance, and drive long-term growth.

In this role, you will take full responsibility for the mechanical services division, overseeing everything from strategic planning and team leadership to estimating, project delivery, and client management. You will be hands-on, working closely with project managers, engineers and commercial teams to ensure operational excellence and financial success across the business.

The ideal candidate will have a strong background in mechanical contracting or building services, with experience managing large-scale HVAC, plumbing or M&E projects. You'll need a balance of technical insight, commercial awareness, and team leadership, along with a desire to drive innovation and continuous improvement.

The Role:


  • Lead end-to-end delivery of mechanical services projects across various sectors

  • Oversee estimating and tendering process to ensure competitive, profitable bids

  • Develop and implement operational strategy for growth and efficiency

  • Build, lead, and mentor a high-performing technical and site delivery team

  • Monitor commercial performance and ensure compliance with contracts and budgets

  • Maintain senior-level client relationships and represent the business externally

  • Drive continuous improvement in quality, safety, and operational processes


The Person:


  • Senior leadership experience within mechanical contracting or building services

  • Strong technical knowledge of HVAC, plumbing, and mechanical installations

  • Proven experience across the full project lifecycle - from bid to handover

  • Commercially astute with experience managing P&L and financial reporting

  • Excellent communication, leadership, and negotiation skills

  • Degree or equivalent in Mechanical Engineering or Building Services (preferred)

  • Chartered or working towards chartership (desirable)
