Mechanical Design Engineer
Derby, Derbyshire (Commutable from: Nottingham, Loughborough, Burton-on-Trent, Alfreton, Ashbourne, and Belper)

Are you an experienced Rolling Stock Design Engineer looking for a role where you will get the chance to lead exciting rail projects and develop your career in a dynamic, innovative environment?
This leading engineering services company works with major clients across the UK. This is an excellent opportunity to join their growing team, taking ownership of design, re-engineering, and installation projects. Reporting directly to the Head of Engineering, you'll get the chance to lead project delivery.
This position is ideal for someone who comes from a rolling stock background who is based within a commutable distance of Derby and looking to develop their career within a stable, well-established organisation.
The Role:
- Lead the design team and provide innovative design solutions and concepts, delivering rolling stock design projects including managing resources and all project deliverables. Liaise directly with customers/stakeholders, supporting on-site installation teams as needed
- Up to £55,000 per annum
- Office based with visits to site as and when required
The Person:
- Mechanical Design background in rolling stock (passenger and/or freight)
- Knowledge of 2D/3D CAD modelling
- Knowledge of Solidworks (or equivalent CAD software)
- Able to work independently, prioritise workloads, and take initiative
- Experience of previously managing projects would be a bonus
