Lecturer - Bricklaying

Huntingdon, site based

£40 to £45 per hour

22.5 hours per week, Monday to Wednesday, temporary contract until a permanent appointment is made

Are you an experienced Bricklayer looking for a contract teaching role with clear hours, a focused delivery schedule, and a supportive FE environment?

Do you want to teach apprentices from Level 1 to Level 3, helping them develop practical bricklaying skills and industry confidence, without taking on extra administrative or departmental responsibilities?

This further education college is well regarded for its technical apprenticeship programmes. The department is organised and experienced, providing a structured environment that allows contract lecturers to focus on delivery, assessment, and learner support.

This contract role is designed to cover delivery while the college recruits a permanent appointment. You will be responsible for coaching, mentoring, and assessing apprentices across Levels 1 to 3, ensuring learners progress safely and effectively through their training programme. Schemes of work and teaching resources are already in place to support you in delivering high-quality sessions.

The Role

  • Deliver practical and theory bricklaying sessions to Level 1, 2, and potentially Level 3 learners

  • Use existing schemes of work and lesson plans aligned to awarding body standards

  • Assess learner work and provide clear, constructive feedback

  • Maintain a safe and inclusive workshop environment

  • Track learner progress and contribute to reviews and achievement records

The Person

  • NVQ Level 2 or higher in Bricklaying or a closely related trade

  • Practical industry experience in bricklaying

  • Previous teaching, training, or coaching experience in FE or apprenticeships

  • Confident engaging learners with different abilities and supporting their progress

  • Committed to safeguarding, health and safety, and professional standards
