Development Engineer

Stoke-On-Trent

£40,000 - £65,000 + Hybrid-working available + Progression (Further Education / Chartership) + Training + Paid Overseas Travel + Days-based

Are you an experienced Development/Structural Engineer or similar with experience in the electrical power industry, and are looking to become a technical expert with one of the UK's market leader in their specialised field?

This specialised manufacturer has been established for 100+ years and have become a trusted partner to a large client base across the globe. Due to high levels of demand and growth, the business is looking to add to their close-knit team and invest in the development of the successful candidate.

In this role, you will be supporting in the product development of electrical insulators with a high level of responsibility throughout the process including designing, testing, and technical approvement. There will also be occasional travel included whereby you will meet with overseas clients and suppliers to build relationships and understand requirements.

The ideal candidate will have experience as a Development/Structural Engineer or similar, and have knowledge of electrical distribution/transmission, along with a basic understanding of electrical insulators and overhead lines. Furthermore, the candidate will hold relevant engineering qualifications in Electrical Power Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or similar.

The Role

  • High level of responsibility throughout the product development process
  • Development of insulator products
  • Product design
  • Product testing
  • Technical approvement
  • Ensuring standards/regulations are met
  • Occasional overseas travel to meet with clients across Europe, Asia, and the Middle East

The Person

  • Experience in the design, testing, and development of electrical power products or similar
  • Understanding of transmission and distribution networks
  • Basic understanding of electrical insulators and overhead lines
  • Relevant engineering qualification e.g. Electrical Power, Structural Engineering or similar
  • CAD software experience (desirable but not essential)
  • SolidWorks experience (desirable but not essential)
