Controls Engineer (CNC Machinery)

Excellent opportunity on offer for a skilled Controls Engineer to join a market leading CNC machinery distributor, where you will work on high-end metal cutting equipment and receive specialist OEM training internationally.
On offer is a technically challenging role where you will become a go-to Controls specialist, supporting advanced CNC machinery across a wide customer base. You will undergo structured shadowing, ongoing manufacturer training and have the opportunity to travel overseas for OEM training after your first year.
This company is a well-established distributor of premium CNC machine tools, representing several globally recognised, high-end manufacturers. They are widely regarded as operating at the top tier of the CNC market, supplying advanced metal cutting solutions to customers across Canada. With an excellent reputation, very low staff turnover and a large proportion of employees having over 10 years' service, they offer a stable and long-term career environment. Due to continued expansion, they are looking to bring in a Controls Engineer to strengthen their technical support function.
In this field-based role, you will primarily cover the GTA, supporting installation, commissioning, diagnostics and troubleshooting of CNC control systems. You will work closely with the service manager and technical support team, typically handling one job per day. The position involves electrical fault finding, ladder logic diagnostics, control system troubleshooting, spindle and ball screw related electrical support, and assisting with machine upgrades. Approximately 10% travel will involve overnight stays within Ontario or occasionally further afield.
The Role:
- Travelling to customer sites across the GTA and Ontario
- Installation, commissioning and diagnostics of CNC control systems
- Electrical fault finding, ladder logic and wiring diagnostics
- Working closely with service and technical support teams
- $95,000 - $121,000 + Overtime + Car Allowance + RRSP Match + Holiday + Sick Days + Per Diem + OEM Training + Excellent Benefits
The Person:
- Controls Engineer (CNC or similar industrial machinery)
- Strong electrical and control systems knowledge
- Experience with ladder logic and machine diagnostics
- Comfortable working independently in the field
- Willing to travel within Ontario and occasionally stay overnight
- Looking for long-term progression and specialist manufacturer training
