Accountant (Financial Reporting / Full-Cycle Accounting / Consolidations)
Toronto, Ontario - Hybrid (3 months in-office, then 50% work-from-home)
$85,000 CAD + $10,000 Bonus + Full Benefits + Career Progression
An exceptional opportunity for a skilled accounting professional to join a growing Canadian engineering services company at a pivotal stage in its growth. This is a newly created position, sitting one step below Controller, offering broad exposure across financial reporting, full-cycle accounting, and strategic analysis with a clear progression path towards a future Controller role.
This role is ideal for a detail-oriented Senior Accountant who enjoys a mix of hands-on accounting work and higher-level financial responsibilities. You'll manage working papers, prepare financial statements, and provide valuable insights to support key business decisions. In this role, you'll be central to the finance function, ensuring the accuracy of financial data, supporting tax and compliance processes, and enhancing internal reporting capabilities. Working closely with the CFO and senior leadership, you'll play a key part in shaping financial processes as the company continues its strong growth trajectory.
The Role:
- Manage full-cycle accounting, including journal entries, reconciliations, month-end and year-end close
- Maintain general ledger accuracy and oversee accounts payable/receivable processes
- Prepare and maintain working papers, monthly/quarterly/annual financial statements, and management reports
- Support budgeting, forecasting, and the development of financial metrics for performance analysis
- Assist with tax filings and ensure compliance with federal and provincial regulations
- Contribute to foreign currency accounting, cross-border reporting, and multi-entity consolidations
- Implement and monitor internal controls to ensure financial integrity

The Person:
- CPA designation (or working towards) strongly preferred
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field
- 5+ years of progressive accounting experience
- Advanced proficiency in Excel and strong working knowledge of accounting software (e.g. QuickBooks, NetSuite, Sage)
- Experience with Canadian tax compliance, foreign currency, and multi-entity reporting
- Strong analytical skills with the ability to produce meaningful insights for management
- Excellent organisational and communication skills with a proactive, detail-oriented mindset
