Electrical Trainer (Full Training Provided)

Hull, East Yorkshire

£36,795 + 39 Days Holiday + Christmas Closure + Pension + Career Development

Are you an experienced Electrician or Electrical Installation professional looking to come off the tools and move into a rewarding career where you can pass on your knowledge?

Do you want to help develop the next generation of electricians while enjoying excellent holidays, a better work-life balance and the opportunity to gain further qualifications?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a well-established further education provider with a strong reputation for delivering industry-focused technical training. The organisation is committed to developing skilled tradespeople and supporting employers across the region, offering a welcoming and supportive environment where experienced industry professionals can build a long-term career in education.

In this role, you will support electrical apprentices throughout their training programmes, working closely with learners and employers to develop practical skills, knowledge and confidence. You will conduct workplace visits, provide coaching and mentoring, monitor progress and support apprentices through their assessments and final qualifications. The position offers variety, combining visits to employers with time at the college and remote support.

The ideal candidate will have strong experience within the electrical industry, ideally holding a Level 3 Electrical qualification, although equivalent industry experience will also be considered. You will enjoy helping others develop, have good communication skills and be comfortable working independently. Previous experience supporting apprentices or developing colleagues is advantageous, and you do not need to hold an assessor qualification, provided you are willing to work towards one.

This is a fantastic opportunity to move away from the demands of working on the tools while continuing to use your industry experience in a meaningful way. With excellent annual leave, opportunities to develop your qualifications and the satisfaction of helping apprentices build successful careers, this is an ideal next step for an experienced electrical professional.

The Role

  • Coaching, mentoring and supporting electrical apprentices throughout their programmes.
  • Conducting workplace visits and working closely with employers.
  • Monitoring apprentice progress and supporting assessment and achievement.
  • Supporting learners with practical skills, technical knowledge and professional development.
  • Working across employer premises, the college and remotely.
  • 37 hours per week, permanent full-time position.
  • 31 days annual leave plus bank holidays and up to three additional discretionary Christmas/New Year days.

The Person

  • Strong experience working within the electrical industry.
  • Level 3 Electrical qualification or equivalent industry experience.
  • Experience supporting, mentoring, assessing or developing others.
  • Good communication, organisation and IT skills.
  • Full driving licence and willingness to travel to employer sites.
  • Level 2 Maths and English or willingness to achieve these within six months.
  • Looking to develop a rewarding career within education and training.
