Project Engineer - Rail/Civil Engineering

Flexible base across Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Northamptonshire and Warwickshire, with travel to project offices and sites

Up to £65,514 package DOE + 12% Employer Pension + Hybrid Working

Are you a Civil Engineer with design or construction experience, looking to develop your career in a client-side position?

Do you want a varied role on a major infrastructure programme, with opportunities to broaden your engineering knowledge and progress towards railway systems?

This is an excellent opportunity to join a major UK infrastructure programme, supporting engineering assurance across structures, earthworks, highways and drainage. There are two positions available, with flexibility around your base location along the project route.

Working alongside a Senior Project Engineer, you will help ensure works within your allocated area meet the required technical standards and have the supporting evidence needed for approval and acceptance. You will combine site visits with reviewing engineering information, working closely with contractors and designers to address technical queries, assess changes and resolve compliance issues.

The role would suit someone from a contractor, consultancy or design organisation with some practical site experience and an understanding of construction quality and technical approval processes. Experience in heavy civils, highways, structures or comparable infrastructure would be relevant. Previous railway experience would be beneficial but is not essential.

Project offices and sites are located along the route, including around Aylesbury, Bicester, Buckingham, Brackley, Banbury and Southam. Your base can be discussed according to your location and the requirements of the team. Hybrid working typically involves three days across project offices and sites, including at least one site day, and two days working from home.

The Role:

* Supporting client-side engineering assurance within an allocated area of civil engineering works.

* Reviewing contractor submissions, inspection and test records, and construction quality documentation.

* Working with contractors and designers to resolve technical queries and review design changes.

* Following up on non-conformances, corrective actions and the evidence required for close-out.

* Supporting technical approvals and ensuring completed works are ready for acceptance.

* Coordinating with other engineering disciplines and escalating complex issues to the Senior Project Engineer.

* Permanent position with hybrid working and opportunities to develop into future project phases.

The Person:

* Civil engineering design or construction experience within structures, earthworks, highways, drainage or comparable infrastructure.

* Some practical site experience and an understanding of construction methods.

* Familiarity with technical assurance, construction quality processes or approval documentation.

* Comfortable working with contractors and designers and reviewing technical information.

* Design coordination or design change experience would be beneficial.

* Interest in broadening your engineering experience and developing towards railway systems.

* Driving licence and ability to travel regularly to project offices and sites.
